September 2020 Exam Guidelines of the Goethe – Institut Last updated: September 1, 2020 Die Prüfungen des Goethe – Instituts sind zum Nachweis von Sprachkenntnissen in Deutsch als Fremdsprache und Deutsch als Zweitsprache konzipiert und werden an den in § 2 dieser Prüfungsordnung genannten Prüfungszentren weltweit nach einheitlichen Bestimmungen durchgeführt und bewertet. The Goethe – language skills relating to German as a foreign language and German as a s econd language and are administered and graded at exam centers around the world in accordance with uniform regulations. These exam centers are listed in Section 2 of these Exam Guidelines . § 1 Grundlagen der Prüfung Diese Prüfungsordnung ist für alle unte r § 3 genannten Prüfu n gen des Goethe – Instituts gültig. Es gilt die jeweils zum Zeitpunkt der Anme l dung aktuelle Fassung. Section 1 Basic Aspects of the Exam The Exam Guidelines apply to all Goethe – Institut exams listed in Section 3. B. wegen nicht altersgerechter Themen der Prüfung o. Ä. ausgeschlossen. Die Prüfungsteilnahme ist weder an den Besuch eines bestimmten Sprachkurses noch an den Erwerb eines Zert i- fikats auf einer darunterliegenden Stufe gebunden. Section 6 Exam Fees and Fee Refunds 6.1 The fee is set in line with the local fee regulations and is indicated on the application form or in the online descrip- tion of the exam. The exam cannot be taken unless the agreed payment deadlines have been met. § 6.2 Gi lt eine Prüfung aus Krankheitsgründen als nicht abg e legt (vgl. § 12), wird die Prüfungsgebühr für den nächsten Prüfungstermin gutgeschrieben. The invigilator is on ly authorized to answer exam content must not be answered nor commented on by him/her. § 11 Ausschluss von der Prüfung § 11.1 Von der Prüfung wird ausgeschlossen, wer in Zu- sammenhang mit der Prü fung täuscht, unerlaubte Hilfsmit- tel mitführt, verwendet oder sie anderen gewährt oder sonst durch sein Verhalten den ordnungsgemäßen Ablauf der Prüfung stört. In diesem Fall werden die Prüfungsleis- tungen nicht bewertet. Als unerlaubte Hilfsmittel gelten f achliche Unterlagen, die weder zum Prüfungsmaterial gehören noch in den Durchführungsbestimmungen vor – gesehen sind (z. B. Wörterbücher, Grammatiken, vorbereite- te Konzeptpapiere o. Ä.). Technische Hilfsmittel, wie Mobil- telefone, Mini computer, Smartwatches oder andere zur Aufzeichnung oder Wiedergabe geeignete Geräte, dürfen weder in den Vorbereitungsraum noch in den Prüfungsraum mitgenommen werden. Das Prüfungszentrum hat das Recht, die Einhaltung der oben genannten Bestimmungen zu überprüfen bzw. durch- zus etzen. Zuwiderhandlungen führen zum Prüfungsaus- schluss. Bereits der Versuch von Prüfungsteilnehmenden, vertrauliche Prüfungsinhalte Dritten zugänglich zu machen, führt zum Ausschluss von der Prüfung. Section 11 Exclusion from the Exam 11.1 The exam excludes anyone who, in connection with the exam, cheats, brings unauthorized aids, uses or grants them to others or otherwise interferes with the proper conduct of the exam. In this case, the exam will not be marke d. Unauthorized aids are technical documents that are neither part of the test material nor provided for in the Terms and Conditions for Exam Administration (e.g. diction- aries, grammars, prepared concept papers, etc.). Technical aids, such as mobile phones , minico m puters, smartwatches or other devices suitable for recording or playback, may not be taken into the preparation room or the exam room. The exam center has the right to check or enforce compli- ance with the above – mentioned provisions. Violations will result in exclusion from the exam. Attempts by exam participants to make confidential exam content available to third parties will also result in exclusion from the exam. September 2020 Last updated: September 1, 2020 § 11.2 Täuscht oder versucht ein/ – e Prüfungsteilnehmen- de/ – r in Zusa m me n hang mit der Prüfung über ihre/seine Identität zu täuschen, so werden diese/ – r und alle an der Identitätstä u schung beteili gten Personen von der Prüfung ausgeschlo s sen. Erfolgt der Ausschluss, so verhängt das Goethe – Institut, nach Abwägung aller Umstände des Einzelfalls, für die an der Identitätstäuschung beteiligten Personen eine Sperrung von einem (1) Jahr zur Ablegung von Prüfungen im Rahmen des Prüfungsportfolios des Goethe – Instituts weltweit (vgl. § 3). Zu diesem Zweck (Kontrolle der Einhaltung einer ver- hängten Prüfungssperre) werden bestimmte personenbezo- gene Datenkategorien des/der Gesperrten, nämlich Name, Vorname, Geb urtsdatum, Geburtsort, Sperrungszeitraum, Meldung durch Prüfungszentrum, an die Prüfungszentren des Goethe – Instituts (siehe dazu § 2) weltweit weitergege- ben und dort dazu verarbeitet. Siehe auch § 15. Die vorigen beiden Absätze finden entsprechende Anwen- du ng, wenn der/die Prüfungsteilnehmende zur Erlangung der Prüfung einer an der Prüfung direkt oder indirekt beteiligten Person unrechtmäßige Zahlungen oder andere unrechtmäßige Vorteile für das Bestehen der Prüfung anbietet, verspricht oder gewährt (Antikorr uptionsklausel). 11.2 If an exam participant deceives or attempts to deceive about their identity in connection with the exam, they and all persons involved in the identity deception are excluded from the exam. The two preceding paragraphs apply if, in order to obtain the relevant qualification, the exam participant offers, promises or guarantees to someone directly or indirectly involved with the exam unlawful payments or other u nlaw- ful benefits for passing the exam (anti – corruption clause). § 11.3 Stellt sich nach Beendigung der Prüfung heraus, dass Tatbestä n de für einen Ausschluss gemäß § 11.1 und/oder § 11.2 gegeben sind, so ist die Prüfungskommissi- on (vgl. § 16) berec h t igt, die Prüfung als nicht bestanden zu bewerten und das ggf. ausgestellte Zertifikat zurückzufo r- dern. Die Prüfungsko m mission muss den/die Betroffene/ – n anhören, bevor sie eine Entsche i dung trifft. In Zweifelsfäl- len wird die Zentrale des Goethe – Instituts v erständigt und um Entscheidung gebeten. Es gelten die in § 11.1 bzw. § 11.2 genan n ten Sperrfristen. 11.3 If, after the exam has finished, facts constituting grounds for exclusion in accordance with Sections 11.1 and/or 11.2 emerge, the exam center (see Section 16) is entitled to mark the exam as failed and to revoke any certificates issued. The exam center must hear the person concerned before deciding. In cases of doubt, the head office of the Goethe – Institut will be informed and requested to make the d ecision. The ban periods listed in Sections 11.1 and 11.2 apply.

Abbruch der Prüfung Unbeschadet des gesetzlichen Widerrufsrechts gilt Folge n- des: Die Möglichkeit zum Rücktritt von der Prüfung besteht; es beste ht jedoch kein Anspruch auf Rückerstattung von bereits entrichteten Prüfungsg e bühren. Erfolgt der Rücktritt vor Pr ü fungsbeginn, so gilt die Prüfung als nicht abgelegt. Wird die Prüfung nach Beginn abgebrochen, so gilt die Prüfung als nicht bestanden. Wird eine Prüfung nicht begonnen oder nach Beginn ab – gebrochen und werden dafür Krankheitsgründe geltend ge – macht, sind diese unverzü g lich durch Vorlage eines ärzt – lichen Attests beim zuständigen Prüfung s zentrum nachz u- weisen. Die Entscheidung über das weitere V orgehen trifft das Prüfungszen t rum nach Rücksprache mit der Zentrale des Goethe – Instituts. Hinsichtlich der Prüfungsgebühren gilt § 6.2. Section 12 Withdrawing from the Exam or Discontinuing the Exam The following applies without prejudice to the sta tutory right of cancellation: It is possible to withdraw from the exam. However, participants have no right to a refund of any exam fees already paid. If the withdrawal takes place before the start of the exam, the exam will be considered not taken. If the exam is discontinued after it has already started, the exam will be considered to have been failed. If an exam is not started or is discontinued after it was started due to illness, proof must be immediately provided s note to the responsi- ble exam center. A decision as to how to proceed will be made by the exam center after conferring with the head- quarters of the Goethe – Institut. Section 6.2 applies with regard to exam fees. § 13 Mitteilung der Prüfungsergebnisse Di e Mit teilung der Prüfungsergebnisse erfolgt in der Regel über das Prüfungszentrum, an dem die Prüfung abgelegt wurde. Eine individuelle vorzeitige Ergebnismitteilung ist nicht möglich. Section 13 Notification of Exam Results The notification of the exam results is generally managed by the exam center at which the exam was taken. It is not possible to release individual exam results early. § 14 Zertifizierung Das Zeugnis ist von dem/der Prüfungsverantwortlichen und einem/einer Prüfenden unterschrieben (vg l. § 16). Im Falle des Zeugnisverlusts kann innerhalb von 10 Jahren eine Ersatzb e scheinigung ausgestellt werden. Die Ausstellung einer Ersatzb e scheinigung ist kostenpflichtig. Die Prüfung s- leistungen werden in Form von Punkten und gegebenenfalls sich daraus ableitenden Prädikaten dokumentiert. Das Prü – fungszentrum weist bei Nichtbestehen auf die Bedingungen zur Wiederholung der Prüfung hin. Die Teilnahme an einer abgelegten, aber nicht bestandenen Prüfung wird unter Nennung der erhaltenen Punktwerte auf Wuns ch bestätigt. Section 14 Certification The certificate is signed by the exam official and an examiner (see Section 16). If the certificate is lost within ten years, a replacement certificate can be issued. A fee will be charged for the issuing of a replacement certificate. Exam p erformance is documented in the form of points and, as the case may be, corresponding grades. In the event of a failure, the exam center will provide information on the conditions for retaking the exam. A certificate of participation displaying the number of points earned is also available upon request if the partici- pant fails to pass the exam.

If all four modules were tak en and passed at one exam center and in one exam session, the participants are alterna- tively entitled to receive a single copy of a single certificate that shows all four modules. If one or more modules are taken again at a later date, the certificates rec eived for them can be combined with previously acquired certificates. Sofern es die organisatorischen Möglichkeiten am Prü- fungszen t rum erlauben, kann auf Wunsch zusätzlich ein Gesamtzeugnis ausgestellt werden. Auf dem Gesamtzeugnis werden die besten Erge bnisse, die innerhalb eines Jahres in den vier Modulen erzielt wurden, aufgeführt. Das Gesamtzeugnis bescheinigt das Best e hen aller vier Module innerhalb eines Jahres an Goethe – Instituten innerhalb der Europäischen Union an Goethe – Instituten in Drittsta aten innerhalb eines Landes. If the organizational capacities of the exam center permit, an overall certificate can also be issued upon request. This will show the best results that have been achieved within one year in the four modules. The overall c ertificate certifies the passing of all four modules within one year at Goethe – Institutes within the European Union at Goethe – Institutes in third countries within a state.
