1.2INTRODUCTION & BACKGROUND TO THE TROUTBECK EVENT Triathlon consists ofswimming, cycling andrunning competed asonecontinuous event over anumber ofpredetermined distances .The TROUTBECK ATU TRIATHLON AFRICAN CUPisanInternational sanctioned event bythe INTERNATIONAL TRIATHLON UNION (ITU) with a13-year history ofbeing staged inZimbabwe .Itisthe longest running event ofthis level onthe African Continent .The event has grown toinclude local Triathlon events, such asNational Championships, anOpen Water Swim (The Troutbeck Mile), aCorporate Team Triathlon Relay Challenge, Aquathlon (swim -run -swim), in2018 ,anextension ofour popular entry level events, Tri -Kidz andin2019 ,Off -Road (Cross -Triathlon) atthe Nyanga event tocapitalise onthe Family element .The event meets stringent ITU Event Organiser standards with regards tosafety and athlete experience, andhas areputation oftop -flight organisation combined with typical Zimbabwean hospitality .Troutbeck isselected owing to the requirement for :Aguaranteed clean, disease andanimal free stretch ofopenwater within Zimbabwe for the swim element .This water quality iscritical to the ITU requirements for hosting International events andhas to comply with specific health requirements for openwater swimming .Ademanding event held atanaltitude of2000mand over hilly terrain .The close proximity ofthe venue toagood tar road for the cycle section .Acentral location for all aspects ofthe event for spectators andathletes alike .This includes accommodation andfull catering facilities onsite and other alternative options close byinthe form ofcottages, time shares andother hotels -fiSport Tourismfl .Aclose working relationship built upover thirteen previous events atthe Resort with African Sun Hotels andthe Local Authorities .

1.3THE OBJECTIVE OF THE TROUTBECK EVENT The event will consist ofavariety ofdifferent distances tosuit the targeted Athlete base .The primary function istoenable Elite and Under 23Athletes gain valuable World (Olympic) Ranking Points .Essentially these events are toassist African Athletes with their Qualification points, byhosting events onthe Continent toavoid travelling further afield to compete atthe same level .The event doesnot however exclude Non -African athletes andwehave hadathletes competing from awide range offoreign countries .The event ispart ofanInternational circuit, strictly sanctioned bythe ITU, run across all ofthe Continents .These events are particularly important toathletes during the 2-year Olympic Qualification process (also points based) leading upto the Olympic Games competition -June 2018-May 2020.In2018 ,werealigned the ELITE event to a750mswim/ 20kmbike/ 5kmrun course owing tothe scheduling ofthe event earlier onthe International Calendar aswell astaking into consideration the severity ofthe course based onthe altitude andterrain .Itisimportant that the event isappealing to young Elite athletes for them to travel andgain valuable ranking points byfinishing within 8%ofthe winner™s time (to guarantee ranking points regardless ofthe finish position) -webelieve this will swell this field significantly .The event falls oneweek after the World Cup Cape Town, also anITU sanctioned ranking event, raced over the same Sprint format .Itishoped to capitalise onsome ofthese athletes travelling onto Troutbeck to compete while infithe Regionfl aswas the case in2018and2019.2019 -2020 are the Tokyo Olympic Qualification years andthe event therefore falls within this cycle sopoints are extremely important for these Elite athletes .The cycle andrun courses will consist ofmulti laps through the Hotel complex which addstospectator interest andinvolvement .This course will then beused for other triathlons that will dodistances proportionate toeach other .Weuse this occasion to host the ZIMBABWE NATIONAL TRIATHLON CHAMPIONSHIPS over the same course andvenue .

2.1ACCREDITATIONS The LOC will provide anofficial Accreditation Card to all the Organizing Committee Members, ITU Technical Officials and Coaches, VIPs, Media andMedical Personnel .Accreditation Cards provide access to specific areas ofthe competition areas .All those accredited are requested to carry their Accreditation Cards with them atall times, andtoshow them uponrequest .VIPS All VIPS, Sponsors and specific sponsor guests will beissued with Accreditation Passes which allows entry into the specified VIP Comfort Zone .Noentry will bepermitted without accreditation .Accreditation cards are non-transferrable FAN ZONE Adedicated area will bedesignated for families and friends ofathletes COACHES All coaches must beentered through the ITU System bytheir National Federation .Accreditation Cards will beissued bythe LOC Administration atAthlete™s Briefings MEDIA All media personnel will berequired toregister with the LOC who will issue Accreditation Cards .Press Conferences will beheld atspecific times, Media Personnel are requested toadhere tothe schedule .
