The Biopesticides and Pollution Prevention Division (BPPD) has conducted a review of this request for its applicability under PRN 98-10 and finds that the action requested falls within the scope of PRN 98-10. The labeling submitted with this application has been stamped fiNotificationfl and will be placed in our records. You must submit one (1) copy of the final printed labeling with the modifications. EPA is in the process of revising PR Notice 98-10. Specifically, the revised PR Notice has proposed that claims like “Made in [Country Name]” made for products will be acceptable to EPA only if all of the components in the formulation(s) originate from the particular country claimed (see Section III.E.5. of the proposed PR Notice here: https://www.regulations.gov/document?D=EPA-HQ-OPP-2016-0671- 0002). Bonide® Mosquito Beater® WSP is [are] a highly selective microbial insecticide, effective against mosquito larvae in [containerized] standing water. The active ingredient, Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. israelensis (or Bti) kills mosquito larvae upon ingesting by destroying the cellular lining of the insect digestive tract. Use BONIDE® Mosquito Beater® WSP to control mosquito larvae in [containerized] standing water in irrigation or drainage ditches, pastures, livestock watering troughs/ponds/tanks, lawns, woodland pools, snow melt pools, tidal water, salt marsh, catch basins, storm water retention basins, [containerized] water gardens, flower pots, rain barrels, roof gutters, bird baths, tree holes, unused swimming pools or spas, discarded automobile tires, and any other [containerized] location around homes or other buildings where water can collect [and form a breeding ground for mosquitoes] and remain for extended periods. BONIDE® Mosquito Beater® WSP is provided in a water-soluble pouch to be placed directly on the surface of the water to be treated. The pouch will float on the water surface and dissolve within a few minutes, releasing granules coated with Bti. [These granules then slowly release the long-term Bti larvicide.] HOW TO APPLY: [APPLICATION RATE] 1 pouch (0.2 ozs) will treat up to 50 sq. ft. of water surface. [An area approximately 7™ x 7™] When using multiple pouches to treat larger area, [alternate language fiWhen treating larger areas,fl] distribute [optional Œ the pouches] uniformly on the water surface to ensure adequate dispersion of the granules.
